On Monday, April 11, 1977, I flew from New York to San Francisco on American Airlines Flight Number 17, piloted by Captain John Pickering. I departed new York at 12:15 PM and arrived in California at 5:15 PM, flying at an average speed of 546 miles per hour. On the trip I took photographs of the air over America every ten minutes, bracketed by photos of JFK Airport on the East Coast and San Francisco Airport on the West Coast.
